Helsenorge.no is a guide for citizens wanting to take care of their health, as well as learn about public health care in Norway. The web site includes links to online services and information about the treatment of illnesses and patients' rights.

A Summary care record ("Kjernejournal") provides healthcare professionals with fast access to certain important health information about you, regardless of where you are receiving treatment.

Here you can find information about your health care rights as a worker, asylum seeker, au pair, student, pensioner or tourist in Norway.

Everyone who wishes to do so, may have a regular General Practitioner (GP). The majority of people who reside in Norway are entitled to a regular GP. You may select and change your regular GP doctor yourself by either logging in to the helsenorge.no website ("Bytte fastlege"). You may change your regular GP twice per calendar year.

If you have suffered from adverse effects after using a specific medication, you may report this by completing and submitting an online report form. You can also report on behalf of your family members. (In Norwegian only)

Patient travel is transportation to and from publicly approved medical treatment. Primarily, you should arrange your own travel and apply for compensation of travel expenses afterwards. You may apply for compensation of travel expenses electronically or by the paper-based travel expenses form.

En del sykmeldte arbeidstakere kan nå motta og sende sykmeldingen elektronisk til arbeidsgiveren sin. Den sykmeldte får et varsel på SMS eller e-post med oppfordring om å logge seg inn på nav.no. Her kan man se sykmeldingen og sende den til arbeidsgiveren. (In Norwegian only)
