Certificates and printouts from the National Population Register

Norwegian Tax Administration

Here you can order information from the National Population Register, like certificates, extracts and printouts. The National Population Register is a part of the Norwegian Tax Administration.

Marriage certificate

Norwegian Tax Administration

Everyone who gets married receives a confirmation after the marriage has been registered with the Tax Administration. If you need a marriage certificate on paper or you would like a copy, you can order one here.

Grant for funeral

Norwegian Labour and Welfare Service (NAV)

Funeral grant is intended to cover incurred, necessary funeral expenses. The grant is means-tested.

Getting married in Norway

Before you can get married, the Norwegian Tax Administration must check whether you meet the conditions for entering into marriage. The process may take some time, so make sure you allow plenty of time before the wedding.

Marriage agreements

It is possible to draw up marriage agreements (prenuptial agreements) in Norway to regulate the ownership of a couple’s assets/property. If this is not done, assets/property are automatically regulated by Norwegian marriage legislation. (The form is in Norwegian only)

Secretariat of the Anti-Discrimination Tribunal (Diskrimineringsnemnda)

The Anti-Discrimination Tribunal is a national administrative appeals body, that decides cases regarding discrimination, harassment, sexual harassment, universal design, and retaliation. If you wish to send us a complaint, you can fill out a form on our website. We will then contact the person/establishment who you believe has violated the rules, to get their view on the matter. The procedure at Anti-Discrimination Tribunal is free. Cases before the Tribunal are decided by highly-qualified legal experts. All of the Tribunal’s Chairmen have experience as judges.

Marriage abroad

If you’re getting married abroad, the marriage can be entered into in accordance with either foreign law or Norwegian law. Before you can get married, whether in accordance with Norwegian or foreign law, the Tax Administration must check that you/the one of you who is/has been resident in Norway, fulfils the conditions for entering into marriage.

Allowance for transportation of the deceased

Norwegian Labour and Welfare Service (NAV)

Allowance for transportation of the deceased is intended to help cover expenses in connection with burial. It is granted when the deceased’s body has to be transported over a certain distance.
