Norwegian Universities and Colleges Admission Service

The Norwegian Universities and Colleges Admission Service (NUCAS) coordinates the admission to ordinary undergraduate study programmes at all universities, university colleges, and some private university colleges in Norway.

Order a birth certificate

Birth certificates contain information about a person's name, date of birth, personal ID number, gender, place of birth and possibly the names of the person's parents. As regards newborn babies, the Tax Administration will automatically send the birth certificate to the parents after the child's name has been registered.

Apply for unemployment benefits

In order to become eligible for unemployment benefit, you must first register as a job seeker at NAV. The earliest you can submit your claim for unemployment benefit is one week before the first day on which you become totally or partially unemployed. It is important that you do not submit your application too early, as it may be rejected.

Autopass - collection of road tolls

Here you can find information about toll roads, enter into an agreement, and find information about payment with Autopass. Autopass is the Norwegian system for the collection of road tolls. All tolls stations in Norway are automated, except for the Atlantic Ocean Tunnel and some ferries. With a valid Autopass contract and a tag in vehicles, a discount is conceded for the use of toll roads.

If possible, parents should agree privately on child maintenance payments. However, guidance on how much child maintenance should be paid is available via an online calculator from the Norwegian Labour and Welfare Administration (NAV). 

Find or change your regular GP / family doctor

Everyone who wishes to do so, may have a regular General Practitioner (GP). The majority of people who reside in Norway are entitled to a regular GP. You may select and change your regular GP doctor yourself by either logging in to the helsenorge.no website ("Bytte fastlege"). You may change your regular GP twice per calendar year.

To register as a job seeker or to receive unemployment benefit while you are seeking work, you need to report to NAV every 14 days. You can do this by submitting an employment status form online.
