A confirmation of residence for tax purposes (Certificate of Residence) can either confirm residency according to Norwegian national law or according to a tax treaty with the country in question.
Death and inheritance
When someone dies, a death certificate is issued by a doctor or hospital authority. Normally, the inheritors decide how the estate (property, money, possessions) should be administered.
Divorce
If you and/or your spouse no longer wish to live together, either or both of you can apply to your county governor’s office for a separation. It is not necessary for both of you to agree on the separation. The county governor will contact your spouse if you apply alone.
Moving
When you move, you must report your new address to the National Population Register (folkeregisteret), at the earliest 31 days before or 8 days after your move. The National Population Register is managed by the Norwegian Tax Administration (skatteetaten).
