Electronic ID

In order to use digital services from Norwegian public agencies, you must have an electronic ID, e-ID. An electronic ID confirms that you are who you say you are when logging into digital services.

Get an electronic ID

You can choose between five different electronic IDs to log into digital services from Norwegian public authorities: MinID, BankID, BankID on your mobile, Buypass or Commfides.

MinID

The Agency for Public Management and e-Government (Difi) is responsible for MinID. If you are 13 years old or older, you can order a MinID.

To register yourself as a MinID user you need the following:

  • National identity number or D number
  • Mobile phone or e-mail address
  • PIN code letter

If you want to open a digital mailbox account, however, you need security clearance higher than that which MinID provides.
